LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Thomas Albert and his Senate Republican colleagues unveiled a comprehensive plan aimed at revitalizing Michigan’s economy, enhancing infrastructure, and supporting the workforce. Senator Albert, representing Lowell, expressed the necessity of this initiative, stating, "We must reverse course before it’s too late and we are plunged back into the economic dark ages of the early 2000s."
The proposed plan, encompassed in Senate Bills 845 through 855 and Senate Joint Resolution C, includes measures to restore Right to Work, streamline business operations in Michigan, and facilitate the settlement of skilled laborers and professionals in the state. Albert emphasized the importance of protecting worker rights and creating an environment conducive to attracting job providers to Michigan.
Furthermore, the plan seeks to eliminate corporate slush funds through the establishment of a multi-state compact, discouraging the practice of companies seeking taxpayer-funded incentives from multiple states. Albert criticized Michigan's current "corporate welfare" strategies, highlighting their ineffectiveness in delivering adequate returns for taxpayers.
Albert advocated for an "economic gardening" approach as a more viable alternative to foster the growth of businesses, professionals, and skilled workers within the state. The senator's vision is to enhance opportunities for families and communities, steering Michigan towards a more prosperous economic future.
The "Grow MI State" economic development plan represents a strategic shift towards sustainable economic practices, aiming to create a conducive environment for business growth and workforce development in Michigan.
