On Friday, Feb. 21, former Byron Center High School standout Jackson Steensma’s current college team, the Appalachian State Mountaineers, won 1-0 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks.

The game took place at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. This was their first matchup against the Riverhawks this season.

The Mountaineers’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium against UMass Lowell Riverhawks.
