In Ms. Shotts-Flikkema’s psychology class at FHN, students were honored to welcome veterans and active duty servicemen and servicewomen for a thought-provoking discussion on a number of societal topics this week.
In this largely student-led conversation, veterans provided insight into their experiences in the military while giving their personal perspective on questions from the class. There were plenty of lighthearted moments of laughter and a mutual respect for all as the discussion served as a safe place to share opposing views and learn to hear and understand others.
What an excellent display of Norther’s mantra, “UBUNTU - I am, because we are”
