Community Invited To City Of Kentwood's September Food Truck Festival

The Grand Valley Metropolitan Council is kicking off the development of the next Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the Grand Rapids region, which will outline funding and priorities for all modes of transportation through the year 2050. As part of the plan development process, road conditions, congestion, safety, freight movement, passenger rail, air travel, nonmotorized, transit and other modes of transportation will be evaluated.

Your input is an important part of this process. Please take this survey to help us understand their transportation priorities as we plan for the future. The survey is available in English and Spanish and will be open through Nov. 11.

Students in grades K-12 can participate in a poster contest by drawing a picture of what they’d like transportation to look like in their neighborhood in 2050. Poster contest templates are available at local libraries, including the Kent District Library - Richard L. Root/Kentwood Branch, and other venues through Sept. 30. Learn more at gvmc.org/mtp.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PLAN

The purpose of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan is to ensure transportation investments in our area enhance the movement of people and freight efficiently, effectively and safely over the next 20+ years. Without such a plan, federal transportation funding could not be allocated in the region.

The public can submit comments in person, online, over the phone or by mail at any time during the development of the plan, which is expected to take place through early May of 2024. GVMC staff will also participate in local events to allow the opportunity for in-person feedback.
