The City of Kentwood partnered with Hanger Clinic to host the fourth Limb Loss Awareness 5k on Saturday, April 30 in honor of Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month. We’re pleased to share this year’s race had 297 participants, who set a record for funds raised of almost $20,000.
All funds raised from the event will support Kentwood’s adaptive recreation programs, which empower people with various disabilities to participate in athletic activities in an adapted way to allow for a safe and fun experience. In 2018 and 2019, funds raised from the race helped purchase a ski boat and kayaks. In 2021, funds were used to secure down payments for two jet skis; money from this year’s event will be used to pay off those watercrafts and cover other equipment needs.
Thank you to everyone who was part of this year’s event. A huge thank you to our sponsors! Gold Sponsors: ACV Centers, Mary Free Bed Orthotics and Prosthetics, Proteor USA, and Spectrum Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. Silver Sponsors: ALPS South, Buist Electric, ITC Incorporated, Life Beyond Barriers Rehabilitation Group, and Muskegon Surgical Associates. Bronze Sponsors: Summit Labs and New Wave Prosthetics. Copper Sponsors: Airway Oxygen Inc., ATI Physical Therapy, Creative Mobility Group, and Hunt 2 Heal.
