Caledonia Community Schools issued the following announcement on Mar 9.
Love for Lips! Emmons Lake Elementary school ran a Kids helping Kids community cares drive in February to collect flavored chapstick for Helen Devos Children’s Hospital. Children who are going in for surgery or other procedures, are able to choose a flavor and coat the inside of their plastic mask so it does not smell so bad.
Many kids have a hard time with the smell of the meds that help them sleep during surgery, the Chapstick helps to cover that smell. One student alone, Jocelyn DeVries, raised over $700 from friends, family and community pop can returns and was able to purchase 1,305 chapsticks which helped to get the school to a total of 3,877! Way to go Emmons Lake!
