City of East Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on Jan 27.
Equipment Operator Darren Dannah has been with the Public Works Department for 5 years now, but his most memorable moment happened his first week on the job.
"My first week I knocked over this light pole while driving a sidewalk plow. When I called on the radio, no one even knew who I was yet. I really thought that was it for me because I damaged city property my first week here. But this great group of guys gave me another chance and have taught me so much. Fast forward 5 years and people know me for my outgoing and energetic personality. I love being known as the reliable guy who makes people smile and laugh. Thank you to the City of East Grand Rapids for giving me the opportunity to show what I can bring to the table in this line of work all while letting me be myself."
