Cal Slams Cancer Game

Sports2

Caledonia High School recently issued the following announcement.

Let’s get ready to RUMBLE. . . Join us for the Caledonia “Cal Slams Cancer Game” and help make a difference in the fight against Cancer! On Friday, February 25th, Caledonia High School will be joining forces with The American Cancer Society. The seventh annual Caledonia Cal Slams Cancer basketball event will be taking place on our home court!  Our Caledonia fighting Scots will be shooting for a cure.  This event is being hosted by Caledonia Student Council and all proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The first five games we hosted were pink out games to support breast cancer awareness, but the Student Council decided to make a change in 2020 and shift the game to an orange out to support leukemia awareness. We are continuing to shift our focus to keep the support close to home. This year we will be hosting a blue out game to support colon cancer awareness. The game will be in memory of David Sowerby, a former teacher of Caledonia Community Schools. David was an Orchestra Director beginning in Grand Rapids Public Schools and spent 16 years in Caledonia Community Schools teaching orchestra and coaching numerous sports. He was an avid violinist, hockey fan, tennis player, and all-around good guy. Come Support Wearing Blue!

Any STUDENT wearing this shirt will get into the basketball game for free. Here is a link to the store to purchase your shirts:
