Wyoming firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm

Webp fire 11

City of Wyoming issued the following announcement on Nov 12.

Earlier this month, Wyoming firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm. When firefighters arrived, they helped five members of the household who were feeling sick and found that they needed to be treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. The members of the household had been using the stovetop to heat their home.

Wyoming firefighters want to remind residents how they can keep their families safe from carbon monoxide this winter:

It's important to refrain from using stovetops, kerosene or propane heaters to heat your home. The build up of carbon monoxide in the home can lead to sickness, serious injury or death.

Residents should keep all items at least 3 feet away from space heaters and fireplaces. When using your fireplace, have it inspected or cleaned regularly. Make sure that when disposing of ashes, keep them in a fireproof container with a lid. Soak ashes with water for at least two days before throwing them away.
