City of East Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on Sept 24.
Congratulations to Public Safety Captain Ric Buikema on his 25-year anniversary with the City in August. Ric joined the department in 1996 after graduating from Lake Superior State University. Since then, he’s worked his way up through the department to his current position overseeing all patrol activities, internal and external investigations, and coordinating training for all department personnel. Along the way, he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from CMU, graduated from the FBI National Academy and the Grand Rapids Leadership Institute, and has received several service citations for his actions in both fire and police situations. Thank you, Captain Buikema, for all your work on behalf of our citizens!
