Byron Center Public Schools Education: 4,443 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 4,443 students enrolled in Byron Center Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.1% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.8% of them were boys, and 49.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 78.3% of the Byron Center Public Schools total enrollment.

Byron Center Public Schools covers six schools within Kent County with its main office in Byron Center. Among them, Byron Center High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,339 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
