Welcome Logan Bylsma, Caleb Kiefer and Brennon McGuire!

Three of our police recruits have joined the Kentwood Police Department as officers following their recent graduation from the GVSU Police Academy. Please help us welcome Logan Bylsma, Caleb Kiefer and Brennon McGuire!

Logan attended Hope College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public accounting. After working for an accounting firm for two years, he decided he wanted to change his career and go into law enforcement – something he always had an interest in, but was now able to pursue with our sponsored recruit position.

Caleb attended Penn State University's Behrend College, earning a bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering. Having always had a desire for public service, he decided to make a career change and applied for our recruit position. Caleb is an Eagle Scout and has been a volunteer firefighter since college – most recently for the Leighton Fire Department.

Brennon took law enforcement courses through the Ionia County Career Center, attended Michigan State University and then transferred to Grand Rapids Community College, where he earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He previously worked as a loss prevention officer at Woodland Mall and had positive interactions with our department there. He also did multiple ride-alongs with us and helped during scenario training for our officers. This led to him applying for the police recruit opportunity this past spring.

As they begin their careers as officers, we thank them for choosing to serve our Kentwood community!
