Godwin Heights Public Schools issued the following announcement on Nov 17.
Based upon guidance from the Kent County Health Department, Godwin Heights Public Schools will close two additional days next week on Monday and Tuesday, November 22 & 23. Students and staff are not to report to school. The district will now be closed the entire week of November 22-26, 2021.
We have received written guidance from the Kent County Health Department recommending school districts in Kent County close down on November 22 and 23. This is due to Covid-19 infection rates in the community. This recommendation, coupled with staffing challenges, have driven the reason for the closure. We have made this difficult decision with the safety and health of our entire school community in mind.
On behalf of the Board of Education and administration, I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving full of peace and joy with family and friends. We look forward to seeing all students back in our buildings when school resumes on Monday, November 29th.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this information, please contact your building principal or myself.
