Save Fred

Stem 2017 2

Lowell Area Schools recently issued the following announcement.

Mrs. Connor's 4th grade class at Cherry Creek Elementary participated in a fun STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activity called "Save Fred."

This cooperative activity has children work in pairs to save a gummy worm named Fred who capsized his boat and lost his life preserver.

Working in pairs, students must rescue Fred, turn his boat right side up, and put on his life preserver – without hurting Fred or dropping him into the “lake.”

This is a great activity that helps children develop teamwork, problem solving, communication, and fine motor skills.
