The Mackinac Center for Public Policy recently announced a report advocating for more flexible and customized educational options for Michigan Students.
Written by Ben DeGrow, director of education policy at the Mackinac Center, Flex Learning presents a plan to expand learning options for students, especially those from disadvantaged households and rural regions.
“Every student in Michigan is unique and deserves access to a variety of options that will help propel them to success,” DeGrow said. “By expanding opportunities for those in low-income homes and rural areas, students will be able to utilize the tools already afforded to those in affluent schools.”
The plan presents options for Michigan middle and high school students to enroll in any public school class or educational program in the state, whether they be virtual, part of a career and technical program, a university class, approved training from a private provider, or even apprenticeship programs and internships.
