As Michigan bends beneath the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic, state Sen. Peter MacGregor (R-Rockford) put out a call for experienced medical personnel to volunteer their services.

The state has launched a website for trained medical professionals to visit and register to join the fight in one of the nation’s most embattled states.

“Michigan needs trained medical professionals and other volunteers to help slow the spread of #COVID19,” MacGregor wrote on his Facebook page. “You can donate your time, expertise or critical items. Help save lives by visiting new volunteer website, www.Michigan.gov/fightCOVID19."

Volunteers sought range from medical professionals to health care administrators to those experienced in elder care. There is also information for those who would like to donate money or blood. The site indicated that volunteer opportunities will be added as needs are identified.

On April 14, The Department of Human Health Services reported over 27,000 cases and 1,768 deaths in the state of Michigan, according to Michigan.gov.
