PLAINFIELD CHARTER TOWNSHIP: Township Staff Limited to Essential Workers, Only

Plainfield Charter Township issued the following announcement on March 16.

Pursuant to Governor Whitmer's Executive Order No. 2020-21, beginning on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, all non-essential Township employees have been asked to stay home. Even though all Plainfield Township facilities will be closed to the general public through April 12, (unless this is extended by the Governor) during this time most Township voice mail and email will be monitored. We will make every effort to reply within 2 business days when possible. You may send general messages by email to, or phone (main line: 616.364.8466), or you can find department-specific contact information below. Residents may drop payments in one of the two drop boxes located outside of Township Hall.

The Township will postpone other non-emergency work that requires person to person contact or entering resident's homes including replacing water meters. Essential services provided by our Fire Department and Water Department will continue as normal, and residents should not expect any interruption in these essential services.

 Building Permit Applications: The Township will only accept applications and plans for new residential and/or commercial development

in digital format. Paper copies of applications and plans will not be accepted at this time. Applications, plans, and other documents may be submitted via email to: Applications can be found here:

Plainfield Township will continue to follow advice from health experts at the Kent County Health Department and the State of Michigan, and further changes to public services may result.
