MDOT awards $340,000 grant to improve Albion road

Road

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) awarded a grant to the city Albion for road improvements, a state senator announced.

State Sen. John Bizon (R-Battle Creek) announced the $340,000 grant on Nov. 25 on his webpage.

“This project means increased quality of life for local residents and improved job growth,” Bizon said in a press release. “I am happy MDOT saw the value in this development.”

Bizon said in the press release that the money would go toward less than a mile of North Clark Street from East North Street to B Drive North for crushing and reshaping. He said the grant also includes $310,000 in a local match.

The fund strives to support economic growth in the state with transportation investments, according to the press release. Five times each year, the fund's staff evaluates which projects would provide the greatest return on investment and looks for projects that would create and retain jobs.
